I keep coming back to OpenGradient and EigenLayer because I get why people want to believe it.

The story is clean.

Ethereum security, AI inference, proofs, trust, a whole new market opening up. It sounds like the kind of thing that should matter.

But the longer I stare at it, the more I think the risk is hiding in the boring stuff. Who is actually paying? How much does the compute cost? What happens when unlocks start leaning on the chart? OPG can get volume, it can get attention, it can get people excited, but that does not automatically turn into real demand.

The market loves a big idea until the bill shows up. Right now this feels like everyone is buying the security layer while quietly skipping the question of whether the business underneath can breathe.

That is the part that makes me cautious. If supply keeps coming, costs stay high, and revenue is still more promise than proof, then the token has to carry a lot of weight.

Maybe too much. It starts feeling less like a flywheel and more like a crowded elevator with everyone hoping nobody presses the down button.

I am not saying OpenGradient is fake. I am saying the market has seen this movie before. The demo looks beautiful, the chart gets loud, and then the invoice shows up.

So yes, the story is powerful. Own your data. Own your models. Share in the value. That sounds right. But the market has a way of turning beautiful ideas into expensive lessons.

I want to know who is paying, how much they are paying, and whether this thing can grow without feeding the token machine nonstop.

Because if revenue is thin, costs are heavy, and unlocks keep coming, the dream starts to look less like ownership and more like a shiny boat with a slow leak. I like the mission.

I just don’t want to confuse a good mission with a safe trade.
