Solana and Zcash Leader Slams Telegram: The Platform is No Longer Safe for Privacy or Business
Mr. Mert Mumtaz, CEO and co-founder of Helius,
has voiced strong criticisms of the Telegram app, urging the crypto community and web 3 developers to reassess their reliance on the platform,
pointing out that it no longer meets the privacy and security standards required in the sector.
Mr. Mumtaz's remarks came in the wake of an incident involving prominent Ethereum engineer, Mr. Dominic Clemente, whose Telegram account was hacked,
leading to the complete deletion of the account by support systems without the possibility of data or conversation recovery, which sparked widespread outrage among developers.
Mr. Mumtaz, known for his strong support of privacy concepts on the blockchain and the Zcash project in particular, believes that Telegram suffers from "structural deficiencies" making it unsuitable
for the sensitive infrastructure of web 3 projects, especially given the absence of end-to-end encryption (E2EE) by default in regular chats.
He pointed out that Signal clearly outperforms Telegram in terms of privacy and security, while tools like Slack remain more efficient and reliable for managing work teams and coordinating internal efforts for major tech projects.#BinanceOnline
