In the agent builder @OpenLedger , there's a detail that's only visible if you scroll down - the Agent Logic and Prompt field.
Select the Aggressive Trader style - the interface automatically populates the prompt. And it has a line that I want to highlight separately.
Avoid HOLD unless no directional opportunity exists.
Translation - avoid holding a position without action, except in cases where there's absolutely no directional movement.
So the default logic of the aggressive agent directly instructs it not to sit on its hands. Not to wait. To act almost always.
In trading, inactivity is often the correct decision. In a market without a clear signal, it’s best to do nothing. And this prompt by default makes HOLD almost a forbidden state.
Yes, this is an Aggressive preset and the prompt can be edited. But defaults exist because most people don’t change them.
An agent that is told by default to avoid inactivity - is this setting geared towards profit or towards the number of trades and commissions? It’s an interesting thought for those who have traded - how often was the correct decision actually to do nothing?
