$KOMA up 25%, I don't believe this is retail traders behind it.
9.53M in contract volume, sounds like a lot, but this is a meme dog token with a relatively small market cap. When you compare this figure to its usual liquidity, the difference is pretty obvious.
What’s got me thinking is the open interest, 255 million KOMA still sitting tight. After a 25% jump, the chips in the contracts haven’t fled en masse, which means either someone is holding the line or waiting for a higher position to cash out.
Funding rate +0.0241%, positive, but not absurdly high. This indicates that the bulls are paying, but we’re not at that “bulls gone wild, time for a reversal” extreme yet.
My own take is: this surge is likely being driven by a small account or a few coordinated wallets pushing the contracts up, while waiting for the spot market to catch up. Classic contract leading the spot game works particularly well in this low liquidity meme space, because it doesn’t take much capital to move the percentage.
The question is, are you catching the last leg or are you at the starting line? I honestly don’t know.
I've played with this kind of coin before; most times it spikes with a big bullish candle, and the funding rate hasn't spiked yet, leading you to think there’s more room, only for it to get chopped in half the next day.
If I were to open a position, I wouldn’t chase. I’d wait for the funding rate to drop back to neutral and open interest to decrease a bit first. At this position right now, even setting a stop loss is tricky.

If you can’t handle it, don’t hop on; I’ve learned this the hard way.
