At the end of the day, if I'm not allowed to trade in crypto for material goods due to fraud protection., then I don't see why political parties should be allowed to receive donations in crypto.
There is no way to accurately identify the original sender of the crypto. Yes, you can see wallet history on the blockchain., but crypto scammers especially use hundreds of wallets, each trading with each other to make identifying the scammer almost impossible.
It's simple really., you have money and you buy crypto in small amounts across different wallets, then you start sending other amounts between these wallets to create a chain of hard to follow transactions. Once you created that chain., you can then start funneling small amounts at different times to a larger wallet. That larger wallet can trade out to other unrelated wallets to create even more transactions., and eventually you build up a large amount to then donate to a political party with.
If you read the blockchain history., it would be near impossible to find where the original source is., as the original source was actually multiple wallets with multitudes of transactions.
This is why crypto is perfect for money laundering., and is also perfect for donating to political parties when you don't want people to know where that money originated from.
This whole banning of crypto for donations shouldn't be seen as a political attack. It should be seen as common sense, especially that normal people like us are not even allowed to trade in crypto for other goods/live markets due to securities fraud.
