⚖️ New York Could Soon Accept Crypto for Fines, Taxes, and Rent!

A new bill proposes allowing government institutions in New York State to accept cryptocurrency payments for public obligations — including:

• Fines

• Taxes

• Rent

• And other state fees

If passed, the bill would add a new section to the state’s Finance Law, granting agencies the right to partner with crypto payment providers and even collect service fees to cover transaction costs.

The bill, introduced by Assemblymember Clyde Vanel, would take effect 90 days after signing, giving government bodies time to develop the necessary legal frameworks and technical infrastructure.

This move comes shortly after New York Attorney General Letitia James urged Congress to enforce stricter federal crypto regulations.
