$ETH One of the largest updates in the Ethereum network took place - the Pectra hard fork, which was activated at epoch 364,032. This is the largest upgrade in terms of the number of proposals implemented - it includes 11 key EIPs.
Pectra is designed to improve the usability and efficiency of the Ethereum ecosystem. Among the main innovations are the functionality of smart contracts in wallets, which simplifies their use and recovery, as well as an increase in data storage capacity for scaling L2 solutions and an update of the interface for validators.
Previous deployments of the hard fork on the Sepolia and Holesky testnets were accompanied by failures. In Sepolia, the problems were caused by an attacker, while in Holesky, after the network recovery, it was not possible to test the exit of validators. Therefore, the developers created a new testnet, Hoodi, where the update was successfully deployed that same month.
Against the backdrop of the Pectra launch, the price of ETH showed significant growth.
The next Ethereum update, Fusaka, is scheduled for the second half of 2025. Changes to the EVM codebase, which were supposed to implement the Ethereum Object Format, have already been excluded from it. The reason was Vitalik Buterin's proposal to switch to a new
