Why people not thankful for other people!
if someone give a gesture of kindness you cannot undermine the gift even if it equal nothing for you.
In my country we even do not open presents infront of the giver we thank him and try to give back another gift unlike in USA you open it infront of the giver and your impression which might not be good if u didn't like gift which breaks the giver heart because he's tryin' to make you smile and to make you happy tryin' to show you that he/she cares about you. But here we appreciate any gestures even if they give a penny as Tyler said we always know that's what the giver capable of.
