Is Binance founder (CZ) and team hold lunc asset?

As of April 2026, the Binance exchange remains a major holder of Terra Classic (LUNC), primarily as a result of an early investment made by the company.

Key Holdings and Official Stance

Company Investment: Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has stated that Binance initially invested $3 million in the Terra ecosystem in 2018. At the market's peak in 2021, these holdings were worth approximately $1.6 billion, but the team decided not to sell to avoid triggering a market panic.

Current Status: CZ recently reaffirmed in his 2026 memoir and official statements that the exchange still holds these native tokens on their original receiving address and has never sold them.

Network Dominance: Reports indicate that Binance-controlled wallets hold a significant portion of the total LUNC supply, with some community analysis suggesting ownership of a large majority of circulating tokens. However, much of this represents aggregated user assets held in cold storage rather than company-owned profit.

Supporting Actions

Binance maintains an active role in the LUNC ecosystem through several initiatives:

LUNC Burn Program: The exchange voluntarily burns 50% of the trading fees it collects from LUNC spot and margin trading pairs. To date, Binance has burned over 74 billion LUNC, making it the largest single contributor to the token's supply reduction.

Staking & Infrastructure: Binance participates as an official validator on the Terra Classic network, supporting community-led staking and network upgrades. @AKABH红烧爆头BraisedHeadshot @Cryptonews_Official @AI Researcher #WriteToEarnUpgrade #CPIWatch
