Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on June 24 that Iran had not abandoned its friends and strategic partners even under the most difficult and complex conditions. According to Jin10, Ghalibaf said a ceasefire in Lebanon was as important to Iran as a ceasefire involving Iran.

He said Iran viewed the withdrawal of foreign military forces from the region as a strategic objective. He added that experience showed foreign military bases in West Asia had not brought lasting security and had instead become a source of instability.

Ghalibaf said Iran was acting with “great sincerity” in announcing to all Islamic countries—especially regional states and Gulf countries—that it was ready to reach a security agreement. He said Iran aimed to reinforce such an agreement through economic cooperation to make the region safe for investors and to achieve collective security in the face of a common enemy.
