After years of UBI rumors fueled by the rise of #AI , it’s now a reality starting in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
The Pacific nation has launched the world’s first on-chain Universal Basic Income program using USDM1, a digitally native, U.S. Treasury–backed instrument on the Stellar blockchain.
Citizens will receive $200 in quarterly payments, delivered via stablecoin or traditional currency, designed to ease cost-of-living pressures across the country’s far-flung islands.
