Hyper Foundation — the organization behind Hyperliquid — has officially proposed to treat all HYPE held in the Assistance Fund as burned, removing it from both the circulating supply and total supply.
The fund currently holds around 37 MILLION $HYPE , worth nearly $1 BILLION, accounting for 10–14% of the circulating supply.
What makes this special:
There is no actual on-chain burn transaction, because the HYPE in the Assistance Fund was sent from the beginning to a system address with no private key (inaccessible unless a hard fork occurs).
The validator vote is purely a form of “social confirmation.”
