Having little ambition in life often makes you mentally healthy.
I, on the other hand, live on the other side of the line.
My mind never stops. I am almost never satisfied with what I do, because as soon as I reach one goal, I immediately see another one higher up. Pushing myself harder and harder has become my way of being in the world.
The problem is that this constant pushing comes at a cost.
At first, it makes you grow, sets you apart, and brings you results. But if you don't know how to slow down, if you never allow yourself to say 'that's enough for now', your body and mind will start to take their toll. Chronic fatigue, constant pressure, difficulty enjoying what you have already built, and sometimes panic attacks caused by fatigue.
It's not a lack of gratitude.
It's that those with a strong inner hunger can't turn off the engine. And in the long run, always living in 'overdrive' mode wears you down.
Perhaps true maturity is not about giving up ambition,
but learning to measure ambition, choosing when to push and when to protect yourself.
Because success without balance risks costing you the very thing that should make everything else worth living for.
