If you try to push that pattern through “normal on-chain transactions,” it either becomes expensive or slow, sometimes both. And if it becomes slow, the whole point of agents collapses, because agents are valuable precisely because they can work in tight loops in real time.
So Kite’s logic is: don’t force every tiny interaction to become a heavy on-chain transaction. Use mechanisms like state channels that can handle lots of micro-updates off-chain and then settle cleanly on-chain when it matters. It’s like keeping a running tab that’s cryptographically provable, instead of swiping your card for every sip of water.
That sounds technical, but emotionally it translates into something very human: it makes agent behavior feel financially natural. Like paying for electricity by the kilowatt, not by signing a contract every five minutes.
Kite also leans into stablecoin-native thinking, which is quietly crucial. Agents need predictable economics. A human can tolerate gas costs being weird because we adjust emotionally and we don’t transact as frequently. An agent doesn’t adjust emotionally; it just breaks.
