“Bitcoin banks are coming to the Bitcoin country.”
This refers to a new legal framework approved by the country’s Legislative Assembly that allows banks (especially investment banks) to operate with Bitcoin and other digital assets under regulated supervision. These banks would be able to:
Hold and manage Bitcoin and digital assets.
Provide financial services related to Bitcoin.
Operate under a special investment banking law with specific capital requirements (e.g., at least $50 million).
Officials are positioning El Salvador as a global hub for Bitcoin-based financial services, with these Bitcoin-focused institutions set to serve sophisticated and institutional investors.
