Solana Mobile ends software and security support for Saga smartphone

Solana Mobile has officially ended software updates and security patch support for its Saga smartphone. In a help-center notice, the company warned that compatibility with new software or services “cannot be guaranteed,” and that Saga-specific customer support is now limited to general inquiries.

The company said the change does not affect Seeker devices, which will continue to receive updates and security patches. The move signals a strategic shift as Solana Mobile winds down its first “crypto-native phone” experiment and pivots toward expanding the Seeker ecosystem, positioning mobile hardware as a distribution layer for apps, identity, and token-based incentives.

Ending Saga support also underscores the growing importance of long-term software maintenance for crypto-focused devices, especially as major phone makers now promise up to seven years of updates. For Solana Mobile, the decision marks a transition into its next phase, where user trust, on-device security, and sustained platform support will play a central role.
