SBSeker, the head of Binance for the Asia-Pacific region, stated in an interview with Nikkei Asia in Tokyo that Binance plans to add 5 new regulatory licenses in Asia this year, bringing its total number of licensed jurisdictions worldwide to over 20. Currently, Binance holds regulatory authorizations in Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, and Thailand in the Asia-Pacific region. With the completion of the acquisition of the South Korean local exchange Gopax, South Korea will soon be added to its list of licensed jurisdictions. Seker did not specify the target markets for the new licenses, only stating that some markets are 'close to completing the final stages'.
Seker joined Binance last year, previously working at the Singapore trading platform Crypto.com Group and held senior legal positions at Ant Group and Rothschild & Co. He also served at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (Singapore's central bank and financial regulatory authority).
