IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol said continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz could double April losses of crude oil and refined products versus March. Birol said 72 regional energy assets are damaged, and one-third are severely or very severely damaged. Saudi Arabia has rerouted more than two-thirds of its oil exports through a pipeline to the Red Sea, but Birol warned that an attack on that route would have extremely severe consequences for the global economy.
