President of the United States Donald Trump announced serious negotiations with the "new and more serious" regime in Iran regarding a ceasefire. According to him, the parties reached a compromise in discussions. He threatened Iran with "explosion and complete destruction of power plants" if the agreement is not reached.
“If for any reason an agreement is not reached in the near future, which is likely to happen, and if the Strait of Hormuz is not immediately 'Open for business', we will conclude our wonderful 'stay' in Iran with an explosion and the complete destruction of all their power plants, oil wells, and Khark Island (and possibly all desalination plants!), which we have intentionally not 'touched' yet,” wrote Donald Trump on the social network Truth Social.
Last week, Donald Trump extended the moratorium on strikes against Iran's energy facilities until April 6. The decision was made against the backdrop of ongoing indirect U.S.-Iranian contacts. At the same time, Iranian authorities rejected the proposed U.S. peace plan and put forward conditions for ending hostilities, among which are: guarantees against the resumption of hostilities and the payment of reparations.
Donald Trump said that the regime in Iran has already changed and negotiations are being conducted with a group of 'professionals'. He did not specify who was being referred to. The media reported that contacts are being made with the Iranian Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher-Ghalibaf, but he denied this himself. Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who was injured as a result of the attack on February 28, according to the U.S. president, is not participating in the negotiations as he is 'either dead or in extremely serious condition'. Iranian authorities insist that the ayatollah is completely healthy.
