Everyone thinks copying a trader’s winning position is an easy shortcut, but actually it’s one of the fastest ways to lose money in crypto.
A screenshot of a green PNL can trigger instant FOMO. You see someone post +1,224 USDT on a $HYPE trade with a +5.46% gain and it feels like you’re already late. So people rush in without context… and often end up being the exit liquidity.
The problem is that a single trade snapshot tells you almost nothing about the real strategy. A trader might show a +1,224.18 USDT profit on $HYPE , but you don’t see the entries before that, the leverage used, or the losses that came earlier. Trading $BTC , $ETH , or any alt works the same way as poker: one winning hand doesn’t reveal the whole game.
Before you mirror someone’s position, slow down and check three simple things: 1) their actual entry price vs the current market, 2) the leverage and liquidation risk behind the trade, and 3) whether the market structure still supports the idea. Jumping in after the screenshot is like buying a concert ticket from someone who already watched the show.
Are you seeing more traders copy positions blindly during this market cycle?
