Have you ever looked at your Daily PnL, seen a beautiful green percentage, but ended up with less money after you sold?
I just lived this. My SOL position was showing green (check the screenshot—a modest +0.14%). I thought I was in the clear. But the moment I hit "Convert," that tiny green gain didn't just disappear—it turned into a Red Loss that was twice as big as the "profit" I thought I had.
How the Trap Works:
The UI Deception: The "Daily PnL" you see on your dashboard is often just a 24-hour calculation based on market mid-prices. It doesn't account for the actual price you will get when you sell.
The Convert Spread: When you use "Convert," Binance quietly adds a 2% to 3% spread.
The Math of Failure: If your PnL is +0.5% but the spread is 2.5%, you are effectively taking a -2.0% loss the second you click confirm.
Look at my "Residual" Dust:
Even in the screenshot, you can see tiny fractions of SOL showing green. That "green" means nothing. It’s "phantom profit." You can't actually realize that gain because the transaction cost to exit is higher than the profit itself.
The Professional Fix:
Stop looking at the Daily PnL as your exit guide.
Ignore the "Convert" button. It is a convenience tax that eats your margin.
Use the Spot Market.
Set Limit Orders. If you want to sell SOL at $88.33, set it at $88.33. Don't let a "market spread" decide your profit for you.
