Unlike optimistic systems that assume honest behavior until proven otherwise, pessimistic proofs assume dishonesty by default. Any chain connecting to AggLayer must prove, via zero-knowledge cryptography, that its withdrawals do not exceed the assets it has deposited.

This is achieved through a two-tiered exit tree system:
Local Exit Trees (created on each chain)
Global Exit Tree (aggregated from all local trees)
Only when the ZK Proof verifies the legitimacy of the withdrawal against the global state can the transaction be executed. This prevents malicious chains or failed chains from draining funds—solving one of the most common attack vectors in blockchain interoperability.
