The Colombo Bourse started off the week on a negative note, while the ASPI index steadily drifted down throughout the day, barring the early trading hours. The index declined by 213 points to close at 22,295, while the S&P SL20 moved down 45 points to end at 6,052. Top negative contributors to the ASPI were DOCK, CINS, COMB, CFIN and DFCC. Moreover, the construction sector counters depicted a pull-back, opposed to the previous week. Both HNW and retail participation remained modest, contributing to a lower daily turnover of approximately LKR 2.2Bn, which is about 48% below the monthly average of LKR 4.3Bn. The Capital Goods sector accounted for 35% of total turnover, while the Food Beverage & Tobacco and Diversified Financials sectors contributed a combined 31%. Foreign investors turned net buyers, posting a net inflow of LKR 88.0Mn.
