Bitcoin has spent the past year being pulled in two different directions. On one side you have Wall Street’s ETFs, packaged in a convenient and regulated format. On the other side you have the long-standing belief in self-custody and personal control.

ETFs vs. Self-Custody
For a growing number of investors, ETFs are the easiest way to get Bitcoin exposure. They come with institutional access, strong liquidity, and the ability to fit into retirement accounts. The inflow numbers support this. Throughout 2024 and most of 2025, monthly spot ETF flows stayed positive, with several months bringing in between four and six billion dollars. AMBCrypto recently noted that Bitcoin saw 171 negative trading days in 2025, which may be pushing the market into a sideways pattern. Miners, custodians, exchanges, and asset managers now operate in a shared loop. This is creating a clearer identity for Bitcoin. It can exist comfortably inside traditional finance while still offering an escape from it.
This flexibility makes the ecosystem stronger, more accessible, and better prepared for the next wave of adoption. And it does not require anyone to pass a purity test.
