🟥 $ZEC is crashing today mainly because the Zcash team publicly disclosed a critical vulnerability in the Orchard shielded pool that could have theoretically allowed an attacker to create unlimited counterfeit $ZEC . Even though the bug has already been patched, the market is reacting to the uncertainty

🟥What was the bug?

According to Zcash developers and security researchers:

The vulnerability existed in the Orchard privacy system since May 2022.
A researcher, Taylor Hornby, discovered the flaw on May 29, 2026.
The bug affected the zero-knowledge proof circuit and allowed invalid transactions to potentially pass verification.
A working exploit was reportedly created that could generate counterfeit $ZEC inside the shielded pool.

🟩What did the team do?

The response was very fast:

Emergency soft fork to disable vulnerable Orchard activity.
Emergency upgrades to node software.
A hard fork (NU6.2) on June 3 to permanently fix the vulnerability
