Bitcoin's Realized Price UTXO Age Bands metric maps the average cost basis of every on-chain cohort by age, and as of May 27, 2026, the data tells a clear story: nearly every short to mid-term cohort that entered the market over the past year and a half is sitting below its cost basis. The market is applying pressure, but that pressure has not yet cascaded into a wave of capitulation.
On-chain data makes this tension concrete across two key zones. Just below current price, the 1m~3m cost basis near $73K is the first line of defense; a break there opens the door to the next on-chain floor around $69K, where the 18m~2y cohort sits. To the upside, the 1w~1m cost basis near $79K is the immediate resistance; clear that, and the 3m~6m band near $84K becomes the next meaningful hurdle.
That said, short-term holders are caught squarely between these bands. If pressure mounts and $73K gives way, a classic capitulation wave could be triggered. If they hold and price reclaims $79K the first onchain signal that this compression is beginning to resolve to the upside will have arrived.
