Capital flowing into crypto has hit a two-year low
According to Cryptorank, venture capital investment in crypto in April only reached $659M across 63 funding rounds, down 74% from $2.6B in March, marking the lowest level since July 2024.
The capital has been on a continuous decline since peaking in October 2025, when the total crypto market cap also evaporated by around 37% during this period. The shrinking market has made institutional investors choosier and reduced risk due to weak liquidity.
Looking at specific sectors, DeFi remains the hottest area with 12 deals in April, followed by blockchain services and crypto AI, each with 8 deals. The market maker GSR was the most active investor this month with 4 deals.
