What is x402?
It's an open protocol from Coinbase launched in 2025 with Cloudflare, reviving the HTTP 402 Payment Required code. It allows AI agents to autonomously pay for services using stablecoins like $USDC, without API keys, human accounts, or manual intervention.
Service providers can't tell if the paying agent is a real human or a bot. With billions, agents register just once in billions using their ZK identity and KYA (verification), and providers check in milliseconds if the agent is "trusted" and belongs to a verified human.
