⚠️The US Has Only 7 Years of Reserves
But is pumping 13 MILLION BARRELS PER DAY 🇺🇸🛢️
The United States sits outside the top 5 in proven oil reserves
At current production rates, that’s ~7–8 years of reserve life.
And yet…
The US is the world’s oil swing machine
🔥 ~13 mb/d of crude production (more than Saudi Arabia and Russia)
🔥 Number 1 exporter of crude + products combined.
🔥 Pipeline, storage, ports, hedging, capital... all in place
This chart makes one thing very clear:
👉 Reserves don’t equal power.
Why the U.S. matters more than reserve giants
🇻🇪 #Venezuela
• 300+ billion barrels
• Barely exports reliably
• Politics > geology
🇮🇷 #Iran
• Huge reserves
• Sanctions decide flow, not wells
🇨🇦 #Canada
• Massive oil sands
• Slow, expensive, long cycle
🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia
• The only peer with both scale and control
🇺🇸 United States
• Smaller reserves
• But total system dominance
• Can add, cut, reroute, export, hedge and finance faster than anyone
Oil markets don’t clear on how much oil exists.
They clear on who can move barrels now.
And in every recent crisis:
• shale responded
• exports surged
• prices capped
The US doesn’t need 100 years of oil.
It needs liquidity, logistics and optionality.
In the next supply shock, who matters more?
A country with 300bn barrels underground, or one with 13 mb/d at the dock?
