Trump threatened New York over the mayoral elections

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on his social network Truth Social that he may deprive New York of a significant portion of federal funding if the favorite in the race, Democratic Party candidate Zokhran Mamdani, wins the mayoral election.

"If the communist candidate Zokhran Mamdani wins the New York mayoral election, it is extremely unlikely that I will allocate funds for the needs of my favorite first home, other than the bare minimum," Trump wrote.

He also expressed the opinion that under Mamdani's management, the city would find itself in a "complete and final economic and social disaster."

The New York mayoral elections will take place on November 4. The favorite is considered to be Democrat Mamdani, while Republican Party candidate Curtis Sliwa is seen as the underdog.
