$RKLB current price 106.13, 24-hour move 1.93%, funding 0.00024181 long pays short, OI 48872. I've been eyeing this ticket for a week, and today I finally have a reason to hop on.
Last week, Trump signed an executive order on space policy, focusing on one key point: splitting low-Earth orbit satellite launch contracts away from traditional giants and giving them to emerging commercial rocket companies. To put it bluntly, Lockheed Martin and Boeing, who have been monopolizing for decades, will have to share the table. Players like Rocket Lab, which are smaller but have higher launch frequencies, will clearly snag more government contracts. Money isn't dumb; OI has surged almost 15% since the start of the month, and the longs are stacking up honestly. The funding is at 0.00024, which isn't extreme but definitely not low, indicating that those chasing the longs are getting a bit carried away, paying rent to the shorts every 8 hours.
Why enter at this node instead of last month? Because previously, the space sector was just following the market without an independent narrative. Now that the executive order is in place and the defense authorization bill is making its way through Congress, the 2027 fiscal year space force budget is reportedly 12% more than the current one, which translates to real money. RKLB's Electron rocket has a single launch quote of $7.5 million, and with the Neutron in development, the chance of securing a government framework contract under this policy windfall has doubled. The semi sector's overall recovery is also providing support; RKLB is listed on tradfi perpetual contracts, directly influenced by US stock sentiment, and if Nasdaq is in the red today, it follows suit.
My own calculations:
Direction: Long
Leverage: 3x
Stop Loss: 98.5 (if it breaks below the previous low of 99.3, I'll acknowledge defeat, losing about 7%)
Take Profit: 122 (first target, corresponding to the upper edge of the recent resistance zone)
Position: 15% of total capital
Three scenarios laid out. For the aggressive approach, if the defense bill details come out next week confirming increased funding for the space force, and RKLB breaks above 110, I will increase my position to 25%. If funding rises above 0.0004, I'll cash out to lock in profits, leaving only half my position on the contract. For a conservative approach, I'll stick with the above parameters, and if the take profit target is hit, I'll exit without being greedy.
