Amazon is preparing to test humanoid robots for delivery
- Amazon is developing artificial intelligence (AI) software to control humanoid robots, with the goal of replacing the work of delivery personnel in the future. Initially, Amazon will use hardware from third-party companies during the testing process, focusing on developing the software to control the robots.
- In addition, they are also completing the construction of a "humanoid robot park" at one of the company's offices in San Francisco. This is an indoor testing area designed as an obstacle course simulating a real-world environment, where robots will be tested for their delivery capabilities.
- They plan to integrate humanoid robots with Rivian's electric delivery fleet. The goal is for the robots to be able to get out of the vehicle and deliver directly to the customer's doorstep. Currently, Amazon is using over 20,000 electric vehicles from Rivian and plans to increase this to 100,000 vehicles by the end of this decade.
- This project represents a new step in the automation of delivery services, but it also raises questions about the future of the workforce in this industry?
