Binance will be making the Self-Trade Prevention (STP) function mandatory for all users on Binance Options from 2026-03-19 06:00 (UTC). With this update, all users will benefit from STP across Spot, Margin, Futures, and Options trading on the Binance platform.

Please note that the system update is scheduled to begin at 2026-03-19 06:00 (UTC) and is expected to last for 1 hour to allow for a smooth transition. 

The STP function prevents API users from unintentional self-trades, ensuring compliance and the integrity of market data, while saving users unnecessary trading fees. It automatically blocks the execution of orders that would result in self-trades. A total of three STP modes are available, and the default STP mode enabled for all orders on Binance Options is “EXPIRE_MAKER”.

Please Note:

  • The EXPIRE_MAKER STP mode will be the default mode for all trading pairs and orders on Binance Options. API users may select other STP modes by sending the selfTradePreventionMode parameter with their orders via the API. Refer to the Options STP FAQ for more information on all available STP modes.

  • If users set their STP value to NONE, the order will be rejected with the following error message: "Dear user, as per our Terms of Use and compliance regulations, this feature is not available."

  • This update applies to the following API endpoints:

    • Options REST API

      • POST /eapi/v1/order

      • POST /eapi/v1/batchOrders

  • The selfTradePreventionMode field will appear in order responses from:

    • GET /eapi/v1/order

    • GET /eapi/v1/openOrders

    • GET /eapi/v1/historyOrders

  • In the User Data Stream, the “ORDER_TRADE_UPDATE” event will include field V (selfTradePreventionMode) and the order status field X may show “EXPIRED_IN_MATCH” for STP-expired orders.

  • Self-trades may still occur in the following scenarios:

    • Between an order created prior to the mandatory STP implementation and an order created after; and 

    • Between orders created prior to the mandatory STP implementation.
