The United States is preparing for the possibility of military action in Iran.
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal citing U.S. officials:
The Pentagon is moving additional Marine forces and warships to the Middle East as Iranian attacks in the Strait of Hormuz increase.
U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, has approved a request from United States Central Command to deploy an Amphibious Ready Group and Marine Expeditionary Unit.
This unit typically consists of several warships and about 5,000 Marines.
In addition, the amphibious ship USS Tripoli (LHA‑7), currently based in Japan with its Marines, is heading to the Middle East.
U.S. Marines are actually already in the region to support various operations related to Iran.
