🩸Trump escalates his rhetoric against China with retaliatory trade actions due to soybean purchases.
President Trump indicated the possibility of ending trade with China on cooking oil and other products in response to what he described as "economic hostility" represented by China's failure to purchase American soybeans.
Trump wrote in a post on the "Truth Social" platform on Tuesday: "I believe that China's failure to purchase American soybeans, causing difficulties for our soybean farmers, is an act of economic hostility." He added that the United States "is considering ending business with China regarding cooking oil and other trade items as a retaliatory measure."
Trump also confirmed that the United States "can easily produce cooking oil itself, and we do not need to buy it from China."
