The Senate #сша has rejected the temporary government funding bill for the tenth time, which could have ended the recent shutdown of federal agencies that has been ongoing since October 1, 2025. The vote concluded with a result of 51 against 45, failing to reach the necessary 60 votes to overcome the Senate's procedural obstruction.
According to the publication, due to the deadlock in negotiations, hundreds of thousands of federal employees remain on unpaid leave, and even more are without a guarantee of their next paycheck.
Media outlets noted that the government shutdown could be longer than the 16-day shutdown of 2013, which was also caused by disputes over the ACA. The White House reported that paying military salaries this week cost the budget $6.5 billion, but it is unknown whether there will be enough funds for the next payment period.
