🧱 Block 19 — “ICO Mania: promises, millions, and free falls”

With the arrival of Ethereum, the crypto world exploded in creativity — and also in ambition.

Between 2016 and 2018, the era of ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings) was experienced: projects that launched their own tokens and raised millions of dollars in a matter of minutes.

It was the new digital gold rush.

Anyone with a good idea (or sometimes just a website) could receive global investments without intermediaries. Some projects like Ethereum, Cardano, or Polkadot emerged from this movement.

But frauds, copies, and empty promises also appeared.

The dream of decentralization mixed with greed, and when the market became saturated… the crash of 2018 arrived.

Thousands of tokens disappeared, and many learned —the hard way— that in crypto, one must research before investing.

Still, technology did not stop.

The fire of innovation remained alive, and soon it would be reborn with a new keyword: DeFi.

💬 “It was not the end. It was a cleanup.”
