The Iranian Civil Aviation Organization announced the opening of the sky in the eastern part of the country for the following international flights transiting through it. A convoy of tankers passed through the Strait of Hormuz.

The sky over the eastern part of Iran is open for international flights transiting through the country's territory, announced the Civil Aviation Organization of the Islamic Republic on Saturday, April 18.

"The eastern air corridors of the country are open for international flights flying over Iran," the agency AFP quotes the department. Additionally, the same message states that from 7 AM local time, some previously closed airports have resumed operations.

At the time of this report, according to the flight tracking service Flightradar24, there was only one aircraft in the sky over Iran - a plane from the local airline Mahan Air, coming from the capital of Oman, Muscat. The airport of its arrival is not specified. Other airlines, as of the morning of April 18, prefer to fly around Iranian territory on longer routes.

The convoy of tankers passed through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Reuters agency, citing the ship tracking service MarineTraffic, reports on the morning of April 18 that the convoy of tankers has left the Persian Gulf and passed through the Strait of Hormuz. The column included four tankers intended for transporting liquefied hydrocarbon gas and several tankers for oil products and chemicals.

On April 17, Iranian authorities announced the temporary opening of the Strait of Hormuz during the ceasefire between Israel and the Lebanese radical Islamist group Hezbollah. "In connection with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is declared fully open for the remaining period of the ceasefire," wrote Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on social media.

This decision was welcomed by US President Donald Trump: "Iran just announced that the Strait of Hormuz is fully open and ready for the passage of vessels. Thank you!" - he wrote on Truth Social. However, the US blockade of Iranian ports in the strait will continue until an agreement is reached between Washington and Tehran.
