Admiral Samuel Paparo told the Senate Armed Services Committee that Bitcoin is a valuable computer science tool for U.S. power projection and security. Paparo said Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer, zero-trust transfer of value and said INDOPACOM is studying its cryptography, blockchain, and proof-of-work architecture for cyber applications. Paparo did not offer legislative recommendations in open session and said he would go deeper in writing and in a classified setting.
