Two active-duty South Korean soldiers have been sentenced to two years in prison for illegally operating a virtual asset exchange and facilitating drug money laundering during their service. According to Foresight News, the Changwon District Court handed down the sentences on April 26, along with fines totaling 54,690,000 Korean won.
Investigations revealed that the defendants ran the illegal trading platform via Telegram from 2023 to 2024. They assisted buyers in converting approximately 54,690,000 Korean won worth of drug payments into virtual currency, which was then transferred to sellers in 90 separate transactions.
