Trump Unsatisfied with Iran’s Proposal; Tehran Seeks Supreme Leader’s Input on Revised Offer
Washington: Amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, a new development has emerged regarding potential negotiations.
The White House has confirmed that Donald Trump and his national security team have reviewed a new proposal submitted by Iran, aimed at ending the conflict and reducing regional tensions.
According to media reports, Iran’s proposal includes an offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, provided that hostilities come to an end. It also suggests postponing discussions on Iran’s nuclear program to a later stage. However, full details of the proposal have not yet been disclosed by either side.
President Trump stated on social media that Iran has informed the U.S. it is under significant pressure and wants to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible. He संकेतed that he is not fully satisfied with the offer.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described Iran’s proposal as an improvement compared to previous ones, but emphasized that any final agreement must ensure that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons. Iran has repeatedly denied having intentions to develop such weapons.
Reports indicate that Iran has requested a few days to consult its Supreme Leader regarding the revised proposal. According to a U.S. newspaper, Iran informed mediators that additional time is needed for these consultations.
At the same time, The Wall Street Journal reported that President Trump has instructed his advisers to prepare for extending economic pressure on Iran, including a prolonged blockade of Iranian ports, in an effort to force Tehran to halt uranium enrichment.
The Iranian military has stated that the country remains in a state of war readiness and will respond decisively to any new hostile actions. Experts believe that the negotiation process has entered a complex phase, and reaching a final agreement may take time.
