Security is the top priority when holding cryptocurrencies

In this article, I'll show you 3 key measures to secure your Binance account

Measure 1: Activate 2FA or Two-Factor Authentication

2FA is a second password that changes every 30 seconds

Without 2FA, no one can access your account even if they know your password

How to activate it on Binance

Go to Security in your profile

Select Two-Factor Authentication

Choose Google Authenticator or a similar app

Scan the QR code with your phone

Store the backup code in a secure place outside of your phone

Never store the backup code in the cloud or in your email.

Measure 2: Activate the whitelist feature for addresses.

Whitelisting allows withdrawals only to addresses you've authorized.

If a hacker gains access to your account, they won't be able to send your cryptos to another wallet without waiting.

How to activate it on Binance.

Go to Security and look for Withdrawal Address Management.

Activate the whitelist option.

Add the addresses you use frequently.

When you add a new address, Binance will ask for confirmation via email and 2FA.

Additionally, any new address will have a waiting period of 24 to 48 hours before you can withdraw.

That waiting period gives you time to react if someone tries to steal your funds.

Measure 3: Activate the anti-phishing code.

The anti-phishing code is a word or number that Binance will include in all official emails.

This way, you can easily identify if an email is real or fake.

How to activate it on Binance.

Go to Security and look for the Anti-Phishing Code.

Choose an easy-to-remember but hard-to-guess word like GatoVerde2026 or YourKeyName.

Avoid obvious words like Binance or Security.

From that moment on, all legitimate Binance emails will carry that code.

If you receive an email without the code or with the wrong code, it's a scam—don't click on anything.

Extra measures you should also take.

Use a unique, long password for Binance. Don't reuse it on other sites.

Don't share your 2FA key or backup code with anyone.

Log out of devices that you don't use.

Regularly check the devices connected to your account and remove any unknown ones.

Don't store your seed phrase from any wallet on your phone or in photos.

If possible, buy a hardware wallet like Ledger or Trezor for large amounts.

Example of a real attack that these methods prevent.

A hacker steals your password through phishing. They send you a fake email, and you enter your details.

Try logging into your Binance account.

But it has two issues: it doesn't have your 2FA code because it changes every 30 seconds.

And even if they manage to get your 2FA, they can't withdraw funds because the destination address isn't in your whitelist, or if they add it, they must wait 24 hours.

During that time, you'll receive an alert and can freeze the account.

That's why 2FA, whitelisting, and the anti-phishing code are your best defense.

Final tip

Set up these three measures today—don't wait until it's too late.

It'll only take you 10 minutes and could save you from losing all your savings.
