🇺🇸🏢 US Senate takes first step to end government shutdown

Senators from the United States, Republicans and Democrats, reached an agreement that would be the first step toward ending the shutdown of federal government operations, a situation that led to the cancellation of thousands of flights across the country and left thousands of public employees without pay.

According to local media reports, Republicans and Democrats reached an agreement that would lead to the end of the shutdown, which has lasted more than 40 days in the US.

There were 60 votes in favor of approving the measure and 40 against. The agreed-upon bill funds government operations until January 30, reinstates federal employees affected by forced leave and recent layoffs, and restores the food assistance program until the fiscal year 2026.
