The real question now is whether the October print can still be publish later.

From what I'm seeing, the October data isn't fully missing — it's just incomplete. Some batchs are there, some aren't, and the file needs cleanup before BLS can even think of releasing anything. That's why nothing leeked today.

If the gaps get fixed fast, the earliest window looks like Nov 17–19. If it takes longer, it moves into late November or early December. And yes, there's a small chance October gets skiped if the data can't be repaired.

For the trend itself, the early signs are calm: energy prices dropped, used cars sliped again, food stayed steady, and rent growth kept cooling. All of that points to a soft month. Most models are landing around 2.9% headline, 3.2% core, and roughly +0.2% MoM for both.

So CPI can still show up — the data isn't gone, just messy. Now it depends on whether BLS can clean the file enough to publish it or not.
