Unlike what I wrote about YGG Play yesterday, today I want to discuss YGG itself from a more macro perspective. Because I believe its positioning in the future Web3 gaming industry may surpass the term 'guild.'
YGG's vision is not to be a guild that 'organizes players,' but to become an engine layer that connects users, tasks, games, and ecosystems. This is scarce and necessary in the Web3 gaming industry.
1. What Web3 games truly lack is an 'entry point.'
I used to work in risk control operations, and I am particularly clear about one thing:
New users don't know where to start playing Web3 games.
They will ask:
Which game is truly worth playing?
Will I be scammed?
Is the reward mechanism reliable?
Is it valuable for me to complete tasks?
Traditional Web3 games emphasize 'Token economy' too much, but ignore the most fundamental question for players:
Where is the entry? What to choose? Why?
The role of YGG is:
To liberate players from the 'chaotic ecosystem' and provide them a clear path into the Web3 game world.
2. YGG's organizational structure is a moat that Web3 games find difficult to imitate.
Many on-chain games have players, have communities, but lack 'network effects'.
But YGG is different. It is a natural player network structure:
Branches from different countries
Players from different languages
Task experts from different professions
Content creators
Game providers
Launchpad participants
Each layer is not a temporary accumulation, but a stable and long-term existing community.
What does this mean?
YGG is a natural growth channel.
For game providers, a task, an event, a launch can instantly reach users from dozens of different countries in the YGG ecosystem.
This distributed growth capability is something traditional guilds cannot achieve.
3. YGG transforms 'game participation' into 'traceable value actions'
This is the point I agree with the most.
In Web3, the value of players is often misunderstood as 'deposit value' or 'holding value'.
But the truly meaningful player value is:
Complete tasks
Drive Game Pace
Bring in new users
Provide content
Participate in the economic cycle
The fundamental innovation YGG has made is:
It turns player behavior into a value that can be recorded, rewarded, and reused.
When 'player participation' is quantified, the entire economic model of Web3 games can be healthier and more sustainable.
4. YGG is turning 'game guilds' into 'a part of the growth ecosystem'
Guilds are not just a collection of players, but a point of value aggregation.
In my opinion, YGG is:
Player engine
Game launcher
Task system
Value Record Layer
Multi-chain Game Hub
Most importantly:
YGG is an infrastructure that can be continuously used by both upstream and downstream, not just an accessory to a certain game.
This makes me very optimistic about its position in the coming years.
What do you think is the biggest pain point of Web3 games? Rewards? Playability? Or is the entry too difficult? I'd like to hear your thoughts.
