š A new crypto-trojan is taking over WhatsApp: anyone can become a victim
The messenger is tough again: a trojan specifically designed to steal crypto and banking data is spreading across the network.
Hackers attack in a highly believable manner ā malicious links come from the names of "friends," fake government programs, investment chats, and services that are usually trusted.
š How the attack works:
⢠one wrong click ā and the trojan gains control over WhatsApp,
⢠automatically sends itself to your contacts,
⢠downloads additional software that scans banks, exchanges, and crypto wallets,
⢠steals data and instantly sends it to the attackers.
š„ The biggest hit is currently in Brazil ā the virus is adapted to local banks and local exchanges.
But anyone using WhatsApp is vulnerable: the mechanics of the attack are universal.
Be careful:
no links from unexpected messages.
No "look at the photo" and "you have received compensation."
