The ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran remains intact, despite the U.S. military's strikes on missile installations and boats in the southern part of the country near the Strait of Hormuz on the night of Tuesday, April 26. This was reported by Fox News citing two sources.

According to another source from the channel, during the attack, the U.S. military took out two IRGC boats that were trying to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz. He also noted that the strike on the missile installation came after it locked onto U.S. military aircraft.

The strikes were carried out just hours after the negotiations between the U.S. and Iran in Doha.

On the night of April 26, U.S. Central Command representative Tim Hawkins stated that American forces conducted strikes in southern Iran "in self-defense." This occurred just hours after meeting with Qatari mediators to coordinate negotiations with Iran, CNN reports. Countries are currently trying to agree on a "memorandum of understanding," but the process is delayed due to disputes over the wording regarding Iran's nuclear program and sanctions.

Shortly after the strikes, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also stated that negotiations with Iran are delayed due to disagreements over wording. "It will take a few days to sort out <...> disputes over one word, one sentence. We have to get through this," said the Secretary of State. Commenting on the strikes themselves, the head of the U.S. State Department stated that "the straits must remain open."

Iran announced explosions in three locations.

On the morning of May 26, representatives of the IRGC reported three explosions in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, where key naval and air force bases for Iran are located. Later, the military-political command clarified that the explosion occurred near the city airport.

The information about the explosions in Bandar Abbas was also confirmed by the state agency IRNA. According to them, they occurred around midnight. The IRGC-controlled Fars agency also reported explosions in the Persian Gulf near the cities of Sirik and Jask.

This is not the first U.S. attack on Iran during a ceasefire. In early May, the U.S. struck the Iranian port of Kish and the city of Bandar Abbas. Iranian media also reported an explosion in Sirik. The U.S. noted that they conducted strikes after being attacked by Iran.
