The Cardano (\u003cc-9/\u003e) network experienced a brief chain split on Friday, and the starting point of the incident was just a "malformatted" delegation transaction. According to Cointelegraph, such delegation transactions are valid at the protocol level, but triggered an old vulnerability in the underlying code, causing discrepancies in how nodes processed it, ultimately splitting the chain into two parts. 😂😂😂

The incident was triggered by an ADA stake pool operator named Homer J. He built and submitted the transaction using AI-generated code. Due to the vulnerability being hidden in Cardano's underlying software library, some nodes were unable to interpret it correctly after the transaction was submitted, leading to a split in the network. In hindsight, Homer J admitted to submitting the transaction without sufficient testing and took responsibility for the impact caused.

The Cardano ecosystem organization Intersect subsequently released an event report confirming that the issue stemmed from a piece of old code. The report pointed out that nodes only need to update to the latest version to avoid the vulnerability and completed the chain's re-integration afterward. The team urged stake pool operators to upgrade their software as soon as possible to ensure the network's restoration of unity.

The incident triggered a clear divide within the community. Some believe that this unexpected event exposed a deep and potentially dangerous systemic flaw, and timely repairs are actually a good thing; others, however, focus on the operation itself, questioning whether using AI-generated code and submitting it directly on-chain carries a risk awareness.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson gave a stronger response, stating that this act constitutes an attack on the network and that the FBI has already intervened in the investigation. Meanwhile, the community is not lacking in sarcastic voices, with one user mocking, 'No one noticed Cardano's chain split because no one is using it.'

$ADA Programming is difficult for beginners, the project team is lazy and slow, the narrative that was originally quite good is now completely unappealing, the ecosystem is lifeless, and no one is using it, relying only on a few believers to struggle to hold on 😂
