New Yorkers will receive $12,000 in cryptocurrency as a basic income

Residents of New York have become participants in a unique pilot project, under which they will receive $12,000 in cryptocurrency as social assistance. The funding for the initiative was provided by leading American cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, which transferred the funds to the nonprofit organization GiveDirectly after closing its own charitable program.
