Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has publicly invited Vladimir Putin to a face-to-face meeting in an effort to end the war.
In an open letter addressed directly to the Russian leader, Zelensky said it's time for both sides to sit down and discuss a path toward peace instead of allowing the conflict to drag on indefinitely.
He also proposed a full ceasefire during negotiations and suggested a neutral location such as Turkey, Switzerland, or an Arab country for the meeting.
The Kremlin has confirmed it received the letter and says Putin will be briefed on its contents.
Whether a meeting actually happens is another question, but it's one of the most direct peace proposals we've seen from Kyiv in a long time. 👀
